Pipe Relining Greta

Pipe relining in Greta fixes a split or root-riddled sewer from within, without trenching the yard. A resin-soaked liner is fed through an existing opening and set solid inside the old pipe. A plumber in Greta films the line first and fixes the price before starting.

It is the repair option within our blocked drains service.

When Is a Pipe Worth Relining?

The camera decides. These are the signs on the footage that point to a reline:

  • Roots growing back at one joint every time it is cleared
  • Cracks, offset joints or a dropped section
  • A pipe wall that is flaking or breaking up, even once it is clean
  • A line that keeps blocking in the same spot

If the footage shows a sound pipe that is simply dirty, drain jetting is the smaller job, and the CCTV drain inspection page explains how that call is made.

How Does Relining Work?

  1. 01

    Clean and film

The line is jetted, then filmed to measure the damaged length.

  2. 02

    Wet out the liner

The liner is cut to length and soaked in resin on site.

  3. 03

    Insert and cure

It is pushed through the opening, inflated so it hugs the clay, then left to set.

  4. 04

    Film the result

A last camera pass records the finished pipe for you to keep.

The cured liner follows the path of the old pipe, bends included.

What Goes Into a Relining Quote?

Relining is priced on:

  • The length of pipe being lined, because the liner is priced per metre
  • How many usable openings the line has
  • Whether a clear and camera run are needed first
  • Each bend or junction the liner has to pass

Old Pipe Under Established Gardens

Clay from the town's early years

The first streets were laid out when the railway and mines arrived, and their sewers are earthenware. Ground movement in the reactive clay has opened those joints over generations.

Gardens stay put

Many pre-1940 cottages sit behind gardens, paths and sheds that have grown over the sewer line. Relining reaches the damaged length through an opening, so none of that has to be lifted.

What the liner changes

Once cured, the liner covers the cracked joints, so roots from those old gardens and silt from the surrounding clay no longer have a way in.

"They were very understanding of my situation, with a work around for my pipe issues, which ended up being a fraction of the cost than previous quotes from another company." Sarah

When We're Not the Right Call

A length that has fully collapsed cannot hold a liner, and the footage makes that clear. That section needs digging up and replacing, quoted as its own job. If the pipe is sound and roots are the only problem, tree root removal is the smaller fix.

Relining Questions

Can the old clay sewers in Greta be relined?

Yes. Earthenware with cracked joints and small sags suits a liner, which forms one continuous tube within the clay. Once cured, the joints that let roots and silt in are sealed over.

How is relining different from clearing a drain?

Clearing takes out the blockage but leaves the pipe unchanged. Relining changes the pipe itself by adding a new wall inside it, so the cracks behind the choke are covered. The recording settles which your line needs.

Will the garden and paths be dug up?

Not for a standard reline. The liner enters through a gully or shaft already in the ground. If a line has no usable opening, the options are talked through and priced before anything starts.

Does the warranty cover a relined pipe?

Yes. A relined pipe is covered by our 365-day warranty on all work, the same as a drain clear or a hot water swap. Ring the usual number if anything we did needs another look.
